Do you cook from "Scratch"? Many times I come across women who say they "Don't Cook".
I don't want to hurt feelings.. but Why? You do like to eat, right? I have always loved a home cooked from scratch meal...no I don't mean you used a mix.. I mean you made the mix. There are some fabulous cookbooks out there that teach you how to do this yourself. When my darling boy was alive, I always made things from scratch and still do.. but he was so sensitive to many things.. that I had to, just to know if was really "Safe" for him. It's actually a blessing.. because we are healthier for it. And at some point we need to truly get back to the basics and learn how to be self-sufficient.
Here is a recipe for a "Middle-Eastern Flavor Blend" spice mix. you can use this in meats and veggie dishes.. try it .. you might enjoy.. getting back to scratch!
1/8 tsp. ground cayenne 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/8 tsp. ground cloves 1 tsp ground coriander 1/4 cup ground cumin 2 1/4 tsp. granulated garlic 1/8 tsp. ground ginger 1/8 tsp. ground mustard 1 tsp. dried oregano 3 TBS. dried parsley 1/2 tsp. dried crushed rosemary 1 tsp. Salt 1 Tablespoon Sesame seeds 1/2 tsp. ground turmeric
Store in a plastic container... lasts for months. yummY!

Tapioca... a quick and easy desert that you will want to make over and over again!
It's old fashioned comfort food at it's best! The picture to the left is a property we are looking at in Missouri! Looks like we will soon be living there as my Husband has already taken position with a company there. SO many changes and so soon! My business will continue through it all and I will find more inspiration for Aprons along the way!
Wanted to share my super easy Tapioca recipe.. here's what you need: 3 cups Milk.. or Coconut milk.. it's what I use 1/4 cup sugar 1/4 cup tapioca 1 tsp. vanilla extract and if you like it chocolaty.. like we do.. add 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and stir until melted.. at the end... The Mixture will thicken when heated over the stove for aprox 10 mins. It's quick easy and YUMMY!!!! This was one of my son's fav's when he was alive!

My Children are always an inspiration for the things I like to create in my world. My Son Cole has been the inspiration for many of the designs we have coming your way via t-shirts. The t-shirt you see pictured to your left is one that we made for his Birthday at Chuck E. Cheese. He's a Fan.. well when he's around, Cole just follows him. But these have been a big hit at many of our boutiques which is why we are offering them here as well. If you want one.. It's easy.. just leave me a comment with all of your info and we'll get r. done.. they are Only $7! Awesome.

How many times have you attempted a "no-bake" cookie that just doesn't measure up? It gets dry, flaky... blah! This is my most requested cookie recipe.. honestly! These end up tasting like fudge. These also freeze amazingly well... and taste delicious strait from the freezer to boot! 1 cup granulated sugar 1 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup butter/ or use a vegan subsitute 1/2 milk/ almond, regular, or rice 1 cup Guitard choc. chips or another really high quality. 2 cups oatmeal 1/2 cup coconut- optional 1/2 cup nuts( I use slivered almonds) * In a sauce pan put the sugars, butter, and milk. Cook for 2 minutes and remove from the heat. Stir in the choc. chips to melt, then add oatmeal, coconut and nuts. Mix until thick and drop in small mounds on wax paper. Now try not to eat them all yourself!

So Darlings, How are we today? It's summer and I have noticed many people are posting about summer lists'O Fun that they intend to do with their families before it comes to a screeching halt. I find that no matter the season I am always thinking of ways to better curtail the clutter that seems to come with daily living.
At our home we "Homeschool" and that means it's constantly lived in. Well one of the areas I have been dreaming of redoing is a spot for all of my beloved aprons. I live in an older home built in 1929 She is a passion of mine. I love all things vintage so for me..this was a dream.. An English style Tudor with a round door. I was smitten the first time I laid eyes on her. The kitchen is a wee bit small... however it did come with the quait details like.. an in kitchen Ironing cabinet. Who does that anymore? Well this has been where I have been hanging my aprons as you can see from the image above... change is a comming..I think maybe a nice decorator dress form for the corner breakfast room. Yes.. that will be on the menu. I have seen many great deals on them at "HOme GOods"... do you ever go there? Well, You will be addicted Luv! I will take a photo once the project is completed. XOXO ~Amy

.We love homemade goodness! My children will eat me out of house and home when I make something from scratch... it just tastes BETTER! As i promised here is my recipe for Brown sugar Vanilla Coconut milk Ice cream... don't worry.. coconut milk isn't too "CoCOnutty" know what I mean?
2 cans coconut milk... (i like the brand that just has coconut and water as the ingredients) 1 cup brown sugar...can only put in 2/3 cup if you desire less sweet. pinch of salt 1 TBS pure vanilla extract
Whiz all of this up in a blender.. and pour into an ice cream maker. I use a counter top model that lets you put the main container in the freezer ( cutting out the need for ice) it's so slick you can make ice cream all summer long...
for a fantastic "Creamcicle" version.. add 1/2 a can of frozen orange juice and 1 more TBS. Vanilla... you will inhale this.. we did just last night while I was sewing aprons...YUMMO!

I will be talking about an awesome work-out that works and is very healthy to boot... but that's something for later. I have been looking out the window and see my yard needs some major attention. So how a bout a beautiful picture my daughter snapped while the wisteria were in bloom? Something to wet your taste buds!
